ComfyUI v0.39.0: Light H3 VAE, HeyGen & EXR16

Introduction
ComfyUI v0.39.0 is tagged and live. The GitHub Release landed at 2026-10-05T22:49Z (about 06:49 MYT Oct 6) with fresh Windows portables and a full changelog from v0.38.0. The headline for makers: a lighter MiniMax-H3 decoder you can run locally, a new HeyGen avatar node family, FLUX 3 Image with bounding boxes inside your graph, 16-bit float EXR saves, and a real --offline switch for air-gapped boxes.

Windows portables are attached to the tag:

Git installs can pin the tag directly:
cd ComfyUI
git fetch --tags
git checkout v0.39.0
pip install -r requirements.txtLocal video: a lighter MiniMax-H3 decoder
The open-weights star of this tag is LynnReal light MiniMax-H3 VAE support (#16657, by kijai). The LynnReal light VAE keeps the official H3 encoder untouched and swaps in a distilled 26-block video decoder that matches H3's latent channels, scale, and temporal compression. Until now you needed the LynnReal custom node pack to load it. In v0.39.0 core ComfyUI understands it natively.
H3 users also get two memory fixes in the same tag: a MiniMax VAE offload fix (#16698) and packed H3 embedding temporaries released before the transformer blocks run (#16677). If your H3 graphs were tipping over at decode time, this is the update to try first.
Partner nodes in the bundle
These are paid API nodes, and this tag adds a busy wave of them:
- HeyGen Video 1.0 (
#16695): new Talking Photo, Avatar Video, and Create Avatar nodes, with 720p or 1080p output and aspect ratios from 16:9 down to 9:16 - FLUX 3 Image (
#16716): text-to-image or editing with up to 10 reference images, optional boxes from the Create Bounding Boxes node, resolutions from 0.75K up to 4K, and an optional web-search grounding toggle - Ideogram 4.5 generate and precise-edit nodes (
#16689) - Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite (
#16721), now the default model on the Grok video node - ElevenLabs Eleven v4 and v4 Turbo (
#16737) - Claude Sonnet 5.5 on the Anthropic node (
#16647) - Luma Ray 2 nodes are now deprecated (
#16741)
We covered several of these models on their own launch days: FLUX 3 Image, Ideogram 4.5, Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite, and Eleven v4. The new part today is that they now live in a versioned ComfyUI release you can pin.
Quality and pipeline upgrades
- Save EXR now supports 16-bit float (
#16706), and 16-bit float is the new default bit depth for theexroption (#16715). That's a friendlier handoff to Resolve, Nuke, or Blender comps. - Higher-quality defaults for Save Video encoding (
#16663) - The Create Bounding Boxes background now echoes back as a UI preview (
#16636), handy alongside the new FLUX 3 node - A Dynamic Group widget input lands for node authors (
#16260) - A crash fix for int8 / int4 cache on Qwen-Image 2.1 (
#16667) comfy_attentionsupport spreads to more model families (#16766), and pinned memory now turns off automatically on integrated GPUs (#16746)- Workflow templates are bumped through v0.11.76, and the frontend package moves to 1.53.10
- A long run of asset-scanner fixes, so big model folders scan without locking out uploads or output saves
Offline mode, finally spelled out
PR #16672 splits one blunt flag into two clear ones:
# Hide the paid API nodes but keep the frontend online
python main.py --disable-partner-nodes
# Block the frontend from reaching the internet (also disables partner nodes)
python main.py --offline--offline sets a restrictive Content-Security-Policy header on the frontend. The old --disable-api-nodes flag still works as a deprecated alias for --offline. If you run ComfyUI on a studio box that must never phone home, this is the switch you want.
Conclusion
ComfyUI v0.39.0 is a confident little release: native support for a lighter MiniMax-H3 decoder, HeyGen avatars and FLUX 3 boxes inside your graphs, 16-bit EXR for real post work, and an offline flag that says exactly what it does. Pull a portable or check out the tag, then reopen your heaviest H3 workflow and see how it feels.
