Introduction

If your ComfyUI board looks like a Christmas tree of IP-Adapter, LoRA, ControlNet, and mystery denoise knobs every time you want a reference, take a breath. NOOB2 V7 Native Context 1024 E2 from LAXMAYDAY / Laxhar Lab folds standard T2I, single-reference, prompt-directed two-reference, and maskless Edit into one self-contained Anima diffusion checkpoint—native source/reference VAE latents, structural instance/source-role metadata, read-only reference K/V attention, and learned full-prompt competitive routing. No external LoRA. No adapter. No IP-Adapter. No ControlNet. No runtime mask. No img2img denoise strength.

Same-day writeups are already circulating (including HackerNoon’s NOOB2 V7 note); here’s the sunny, practical path for artists who just want refs that behave like first-class citizens.

What’s new in V7 1024 E2

This release continues from V7 Native Context 512 E4 and ships as anima-native-context-v7-1024-e2.safetensors (~4.3GB, 1,569 BF16 tensors). SHA-256:

a72081e46627677d775f52f8f7cd2941525d0fc16f8692b031e6c6997265393a

The ComfyUI node passes your visible prompt unchanged—it does not prepend hidden “Use Image 1” text, infer secret roles, parse clauses behind your back, or rewrite an empty prompt. What you type is what the model sees.

Validated 1024 preset

  • Size: 1024×1024
  • Steps: 20
  • CFG: 3.5
  • Flow shift: 5.0
  • Max reference area: 1,048,576 px (that’s a full 1024×1024 ref)

Packaged workflows still default to 512. For this checkpoint you must select the 1024 weights and update width, height, and reference max area yourself. Aspect-ratio sizes remain manually selectable.

ComfyUI setup (don’t skip 7.0.2)

  1. Extract the V7 custom-node package into ComfyUI/custom_nodes/.
  2. Hotfix: package 7.0.1 had a Python helper-binding bug that blocked visual nodes. Replace the entire custom-node directory with 7.0.2 and restart ComfyUI. The diffusion checkpoint itself is unchanged.
  3. Install requirements.txt with ComfyUI’s Python.
  4. Place anima-native-context-v7-1024-e2.safetensors in ComfyUI/models/diffusion_models/.
  5. From CircleStone Labs’ Anima stack, keep the usual friends: qwen_3_06b_base.safetensors in models/text_encoders/ and qwen_image_vae.safetensors in models/vae/.
  6. Restart, load a V7 workflow (T2I / single ref / multi ref / maskless Edit), select the 1024 checkpoint, and bump geometry to the preset above.

API graphs live under the repo’s comfyui/workflows/v7-native-context-512-e4/api/ tree—reuse the graph shape, then override checkpoint + dimensions for 1024.

Pro Tip

If a visual node looks “dead” after install, assume you still have 7.0.1 crumbs. Wipe the custom-node folder clean, drop in 7.0.2 whole, restart once—don’t merge half-updated helpers.

Research honesty (read this before you ship a client job)

This is a research release. The 1024 stage keeps the no-reference T2I path, but exact single-ref identity, strict multi-ref role binding, and fine local Edit are still imperfect. Maskless Edit can paint a broader region than you asked for. Keep V7 512 E4 nearby if you need the previous stage’s behavior.

In other words: sunny for exploration and anime-forward workflows; bring a human eye (and maybe a second pass) before you promise pixel-perfect identity transfer.

How to try it today

  1. Open the NOOB2 Hugging Face repo.
  2. Grab V7 7.0.2 nodes + anima-native-context-v7-1024-e2.safetensors (verify the SHA-256).
  3. Confirm Anima Qwen encoder + VAE are in place.
  4. Load a V7 workflow, switch to the 1024 checkpoint, set 1024×1024 / 20 / CFG 3.5 / flow shift 5.0 / ref max area 1,048,576.
  5. Start with single-ref at scale 1.0, then multi-ref with explicit prompt roles, then Edit at ~1.4 when you want source-aware changes without a mask.

Conclusion

NOOB2’s Anima Native Context path is a genuine “fewer boxes on the board” moment: references as native context instead of a stack of adapters. V7 1024 E2 pushes that idea to a higher nominal area while staying honest about research limits. If you’ve been waiting to try ComfyUI-native refs without IP-Adapter theater, this is your golden hour—verify the hash, run 7.0.2, and let the prompt do the routing.
