Introduction

StableGen 0.5.0 shipped from sakalond on 2026-11-04 — an open GPL-3.0 Blender add-on that drives generative mesh, texture, remesh, and rig work through ComfyUI. The headline for game makers: you can install and start ComfyUI from inside Blender (no terminal required), TRELLIS.2 now runs on ComfyUI’s built-in nodes (ComfyUI 0.42+), and LATO.2 low-poly remesh lands as installer package 18 so dense TRELLIS meshes can drop to a few thousand faces for engine work.

Primary artifact: github.com/sakalond/StableGen/releases/tag/v0.5.0 (platform ZIPs for windows-x64, linux-x64, macos-arm64).

What’s new for game asset pipelines

ComfyUI setup inside Blender

The panel’s new ComfyUI setup page (••• → ComfyUI setup) can:

  • Install StableGen’s own ComfyUI into a folder you choose (~5 GB before models; own Python 3.12 + PyTorch; not your system Python)
  • Use an existing ComfyUI folder and start/stop it from Blender
  • Connect to a remote server (still the default until you change it)

Packages group by texturing / mesh / PBR / rigging, queue with progress, resume downloads, and show an Install line under Architecture when models for the selected preset are missing. StableGen-managed ComfyUI has been tested on Windows so far; the CLI installer remains for servers and pods.

TRELLIS.2 on native ComfyUI nodes

TRELLIS.2 no longer depends on the ComfyUI-TRELLIS2 custom node, separate Python envs, compiled extensions, or NVIDIA nvdiffrast. QDC remeshing and server decimation stay in the same graph; SkinTokens still auto-rigs as a follow-on step. TRELLIS presets now texture with Qwen Image 2.1 (mesh-only preset renamed Mesh only).

LATO.2 low-poly remesh + Make Solid

LATO.2 rebuilds a dense mesh as generated low-poly topology (200–5000 vertices) on the ComfyUI server — available on the Tools page for any selected mesh, and as a TRELLIS.2 remesh method. Needs an NVIDIA GPU and package 18. Release art shows ~1M-face TRELLIS props remeshed to roughly 3.0k–4.8k faces.

Make Solid uses a flood-fill from the outside (not raycasts) to strip TRELLIS.2’s hidden interior shells. Close Bottom Openings caps hollow undersides. Post-Process Active Mesh applies QDC / server decimation / LATO.2 to a mesh you already have while keeping transform, modifiers, materials, and shading (UVs/textures don’t survive server remesh steps).

Projection and object prompts

Object prompts attach one description to every camera that sees that object. Object-relative projection (Blender 5.1+, off by default) keeps projected textures locked when the object moves after bake. Softer seam fades, reference-image Masked Edit/Refine, and much faster diagnostics round out the texturing side.

Where to run it today

  • Add-on: open GPL-3.0 — download the matching platform ZIP from the v0.5.0 release (windows-x64, linux-x64, or macos-arm64).
  • Host DCC: Blender 4.2–4.5 or 5.1+ (5.0 unsupported; object-relative projection needs 5.1+).
  • Backend: local or remote ComfyUI 0.42+ for TRELLIS.2 native nodes.
  • GPU: NVIDIA preferred (~8 GB VRAM for SDXL; 16 GB+ for Qwen Image; LATO.2 needs NVIDIA).
  • Export: bake PBR → glTF (Godot/web) or FBX (Unreal/Unity) with SkinTokens rig + Mixamo-style retarget.

Upgrade notes from the release: reinstall TRELLIS.2 models via package 8 on ComfyUI 0.42+; remove the old ComfyUI-TRELLIS2 custom node; add package 18 for LATO.2.

Same-day takeaway

If you already live in Blender for prop and character blocking, StableGen 0.5.0 collapses the “install ComfyUI, wire TRELLIS.2, then fight polycount” loop into one panel — generate dense mesh, strip interior shells, remesh with LATO.2, texture/project, optional SkinTokens rig, export engine-ready FBX/glTF. Pair it with the separate ComfyUI-LATO2 node when you want remesh outside the StableGen panel.
