Introduction

Suno launched Suno MCP Beta on October 28. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard AI assistants use to call outside apps. With Suno's official server connected, you can ask Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code or Cursor to make a song, and Suno generates it right from the chat.

This isn't a new music model. It's a new way to reach the existing one, and it's the first official one. Until now, "Suno from your AI" meant unofficial wrappers that drove the website with your login cookie or a third-party reseller. Suno's own server needs no API key: you sign in to your Suno account and approve the connection.

What Shipped

From Suno's MCP page and its

:

  • Server URL: https://api.suno.com/mcp, a remote server, so there's nothing to install locally.
  • Supported apps: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code and Cursor, plus any other tool that accepts a custom MCP server.
  • Sign-in: your Suno account, with no API key and no code.
  • Credits: songs use the credits on your current Suno plan, the same as making them on suno.com. You can ask your assistant how many credits are left.
  • Library: every song saves to your normal Suno library.
  • Status: beta, with early access through a request form linked from Suno's launch post.

What you can do through it:

  • Create songs conversationally. Describe the track and your assistant writes the lyrics and style for Suno.
  • Start from your audio. Upload a voice memo or a loop and turn it into a full song.
  • Remix. Make covers, extensions and mashups of songs already in your library.
  • Use your Suno Voice on any track you create.

How to Connect It

Suno gives a short setup for each app. The quickest two:

For Claude Code, run this, then type /mcp in a session to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http suno https://api.suno.com/mcp

For Cursor, add a user MCP server and paste this into mcp.json:

{ "mcpServers": { "suno": { "url": "https://api.suno.com/mcp" } } }

In Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini, you add a custom connector or custom MCP server in settings and paste the same URL. Suno notes that some apps only allow custom connectors on certain paid plans.

Pro Tip

The real win is context. If you've already written lyrics or planned a video with your assistant, it can pass all of that to Suno without you re-explaining. Try a prompt in this shape after connecting:

Use the lyrics we just wrote. Make a 90s-style trip-hop track with a breathy female vocal, slow tempo, dusty vinyl drums. Then give me two more versions: one acoustic, one with a big chorus.

Then iterate the way Suno suggests, with short follow-ups like "make it slower" or "add a bridge."

Things to Know Before You Plug It In

  • One credit pool. Every app you connect spends from the same Suno account. Suno doesn't describe per-app limits, so an over-eager agent can burn through credits fast.
  • It's sign-in based. It's built for you at the keyboard, not for an unattended server. Suno hasn't documented service credentials for backends.
  • Same model, same rules. Quality is whatever your Suno model gives you, and your plan's normal licensing terms apply to the songs.
  • Beta access. If the connector won't authorize, you may still be waiting on early-access approval.

Why It Matters for Music Makers

Plenty of musicians already use a chatbot to draft lyrics, then copy and paste into Suno by hand. This removes that step and keeps the whole idea, from lyric draft to finished track, in one conversation.

It also makes Suno one of the first big music generators with an official, sanctioned route into AI assistants and coding tools. That's useful for anyone building small music apps, game soundtracks or video pipelines who didn't want to rely on cookie-scraping wrappers that break whenever Suno changes its site.

Conclusion

Suno MCP Beta puts Suno inside Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code and Cursor through one URL, https://api.suno.com/mcp, with a Suno sign-in instead of an API key. It runs on your existing credits, saves to your library, and handles new songs, voice-memo extensions, remixes and your saved Voice. Request early access, connect it, and keep an eye on your credit balance.
