Introduction

Utopai X, the film-focused video model from Utopai Studios, now supports image-to-video. Artificial Analysis announced it at 02:13 UTC on October 30: Utopai X takes #2 on AA-Video-I2V v2.1, just behind Dreamina Seedance 2.5. It's a closed model built by post-training the open MiniMax H3 base, and the only place to run it today is PAI, Utopai's production platform, starting at $15 per month. There's no public API.

The Leaderboard, Read Closely

On the live AA image-to-video board when we checked:

  • #1 Dreamina Seedance 2.5: 1,152 Elo (±17)
  • #2 Utopai X: 1,150 Elo (±17), rank range 1–3
  • #3 Dreamina Seedance 2.0: 1,135
  • #4 MiniMax H3 (768p): 1,128
  • #5 Hyperflow H3: 1,123
  • #8 MiniMax H3 Max: 1,115

Two Elo points with ±17 confidence intervals is a statistical tie for first. AA also notes Utopai X is the only model in the top two of both its text-to-video and image-to-video v2.1 boards, and the highest-ranked H3-based model on I2V, ahead of MiniMax's own H3 and H3 Max.

Where It Shines

From AA's breakdown of the I2V results:

  • Capabilities: leads Physics and Multi-Scene & Narrative, and sits close behind the leaders in audio sync, spatio-temporal consistency, and text rendering.
  • Use cases: leads UI/UX & Motion Design and Productivity & Knowledge Work, and narrowly leads Frontier and Retail & Ecommerce.

That fits Utopai's pitch. When it launched Utopai X with the new PAI on September 30, the studio framed it as a model built inside a film studio for shots that have to fit a sequence, not just look good alone.

Pricing and Where to Run It

  • Where: inside PAI only. There's no public API, so you won't find it on fal or Replicate.
  • Rate: 93 PAI credits per second of 1080p video, per AA.
  • Plans: start at $15/month for 1,000 credits. That's about 10.7 seconds of 1080p on the entry plan, or roughly $1.40 per second.
  • Workflow: PAI keeps scripts, character and location references, takes, and versions in one workspace, with a timeline and export to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

For comparison, AA lists Seedance 2.5 at $34.12/min by API and MiniMax H3 (768p) at $4.80/min, so Utopai X is priced as a studio tool, not a bulk API.

A Quick I2V Prompt to Test

If you have PAI access, start from a strong still and give the motion a physical job, since that's where AA says Utopai X leads:

Starting from this frame: the lantern swings gently on its hook as wind gusts through the open door, rain streaks diagonally past the window, and the candle flame inside bends and flickers in time with each gust. Slow push-in toward the lantern, soft creak of the hook and steady rain on the glass.

Conclusion

A post-trained H3 sitting in a dead heat with Seedance 2.5 says a lot about how strong that open base has become, and how much a studio's own production data can add on top. The catch is access: Utopai X lives only inside PAI, priced for filmmakers rather than API tinkerers. If you storyboard first and animate second, this is a model worth a trial month. If you need an endpoint, keep watching for an API.
