Introduction

Prompt panels are fine. Timelines are better when they can call ComfyUI without leaving the cut.

Vlo v0.3.0 from PxTicks is a free, local, open-source video editor that treats ComfyUI as its generation engine: select a span, ship frames and masks into a workflow, and pull the result back as a layer you keep editing. The v0.3.0 release landed 2026-09-28 UTC with a live ComfyUI bridge as the headline.

The Live ComfyUI Bridge

Version 0.3 turns Comfy from a bolted-on panel into a live partner:

  • Drive a ComfyUI you already run, a remote instance, or let Vlo install and launch ComfyUI for you (managed installs also cover SAM2 and Sam-Audio).
  • Timeline selections, images, and videos go out; generated media comes back into the project.
  • Automatic aspect-ratio handling so a video model can edit footage of any shape without a crop-and-stitch dance.
  • Sidecar workflow rules for aspect ratio, mask processing, and widget exposure.
  • When Vlo launches ComfyUI it passes --enable-manager --preview-method latent2rgb, so ComfyUI-Manager is present and sampling streams live previews.

You can stay inside Vlo’s generation panel or open ComfyUI itself from the app. Projects live on disk and reopen whether you are on a local GPU or a remote one.

Eighteen Workflows in the Box

Vlo ships 18 ready workflows covering:

  • MiniMax H3 — image-to-video, reference-to-video, masked guide, frame-to-frame, inpainting
  • Qwen Image 2.1 Edit
  • Krea 2 Turbo
  • LTX-2.5 — including inpainting, clean plate, and IC edit
  • Flux 2 Klein
  • VACE inpainting
  • SeedVR2 upscaling (image + video)
  • GIMM frame interpolation

They lean on community packs you may already have (Kijai’s WanVideoWrapper / KJNodes, Lightricks LTXVideo, ComfyUI-Spectrum-MiniMax-H3, VideoHelperSuite, controlnet_aux, and PxTicks’ own ComfyUI-vlo nodes). A helper script installs whatever is missing.

Editor Muscle Beyond Generation

0.3.0 is not only a bridge drop:

  • Sam-audio stem separation — vocals, instruments, and effects split for editing
  • SAM2 points editor and masking with automatic crop/stitch for video inpainting, plus mask algebra
  • Composite clips, subtimelines, and adjustment clips that grade a whole timeline
  • Color grading, transitions (dissolve, slide-in, and more), and blending modes
  • A new frame-graph renderer: live preview and export follow the same render plan, which is what makes frame-accurate output possible
  • An extension SDK (per-clip workspace promised next)

Keyframes, spline transforms, snappable markers, beat detection, draggable motion paths, and multi-track audio sit next to the generative tools instead of in a second app.

Requirements

Vlo is Chromium-only (Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium builds) because it needs the File System Access API plus mediabunny / WebCodecs for frame-accurate media. Firefox is not supported. The only install prerequisite is git; the installer fetches Node.js, Python, and uv if you do not already have suitable versions.

Conclusion

Vlo 0.3 is the timeline that finally talks back to ComfyUI in real time: a live bridge, eighteen production workflows from MiniMax H3 to SeedVR2, SAM2 + Sam-audio, and a unified frame-graph so what you preview is what you export. If your cuts live next to your graphs, this is the open editor to try first.
