Wan 3.0: 30s Video From Any Input

Introduction
Alibaba just made “everything to video” feel less like a slogan and more like a Model Studio button you can actually press. Wan3.0 (API model wan3.0-video) is live on Alibaba Cloud Model Studio as an All-in-One video stack: up to 30 seconds at 30fps, multimodal references, native dialogue / BGM / SFX, and edit-or-extend flows that do not force a full regen every time you tweak the story.
Docs were refreshed 17 Sep 2026, so if you last poked Wan in the 2.x era, this is the moment to reopen the console.
What Wan3.0 actually ships
Per Alibaba’s Model Studio blog and the Wan3.0 video guide, the headline kit includes:
- Long single-pass clips — up to 30s per generation (with smart duration when
duration=-1) - Native audio-video — dialogue, ambient SFX, and BGM in the same pass (audio can be disabled if you want silent frames)
- Multimodal refs — up to 20 materials per request: ≤10 images, ≤5 video refs (total ≤15s), plus audio refs, and one document or public web link
- Documents that become films — PPT / PDF / DOC / XLS / md (and friends), ≤100MB / ≤50 pages
- First / first-last frame control for pixel-tight openers and closers
- Edit + extend — change visuals, plot, or dialogue, or continue a clip forward/backward without starting from zero
- Resolutions — 480P / 720P / 1080P (MP4 @ 30fps)
API pricing (per second of generated video) sits at about $0.05 / $0.10 / $0.20 for 480P / 720P / 1080P — so a 30s 480P draft is roughly $1.50, while a 30s 1080P finish lands near $6.
Why “All-in-One” matters for creators
Older Wan flows felt like a menu of modes. Wan3.0 routes from the same wan3.0-video model based on your media type and prompt intent: text-only stories, image-to-video, reference packs, file/link-to-video, edits, and extensions share one surface.
That is especially spicy for:
- Brand / product films from a deck instead of a storyboard spreadsheet
- Training / internal briefings where a PDF already exists
- Character-consistent shorts that need image + video + audio refs in one call
- Iteration loops where “change the line” should not burn another full generation budget
Alibaba is also honest about the soft spots: audio texture and on-screen text are still improving. Regional Model Studio availability can differ too — check that your model, endpoint, and API key share the same region before you blame the prompt.
Creator tips (steal these)
- PPT → brand film — Upload the deck as
file, then write the emotional arc in the prompt (“warm café TVC, invite people to stay”). Let Wan parse the brand story; you steer tone and camera. - Use smart duration (
-1) — Do not force 30s on a 6-second product beat. Let the model recommend length, then extend only if the story still has somewhere to go. - Draft at 480P, finish at 1080P — Iterate cheap, then lock resolution once the narrative and refs are right. Combine with edit mode for dialogue/lighting tweaks instead of regen roulette.
- Keep task types clean — First/last-frame mode does not mix with free-form reference packs in the same request. Match
typecombinations to the guide’s tables.

Conclusion
Wan3.0 is the clearest “office file in, finished clip out” bet Alibaba has put on Model Studio yet — longer canvas, native sound, and revision tools that respect a working cut. Start with a 480P deck-to-film experiment tonight; if the story sings, bump to 1080P and extend instead of regenerating the whole reel.
